timer remote adapters

having recently switched from Nikon to Canon I wanted to keep the timer remote I had recently purchased in hope of buying the adapter for Canon..

all I can find includes buying the remote again which I don't want to do, anyone know where I can just buy the adapter..

like this but in Canon.

Past experience suggests that the adaptor cable will sell for around 80% of the price of a new remote including the cable... so I'd bite the bullet and get another complete unit (compatible one with that system - because you can bet it won't be the cable that will go faulty in future...)
