Tiny and light Flash with eTTL?

can anyone recommend a tiny flash with ETTL that fits on the hotshoe of Canon full frame DSLR?

remember how Canon full frame DSLR doesn't have pop up flash? it's a massive oversight by them. :thumbsdown:


reason I want one is so that I don't want to carry around my full sized flashgun with 4 AA batteries, it's dead weight when just doing tourist stuff (and it doesn't fit my travel-light bag). the lack of fill flash in some situations really bugs me. :bonk:

so requirements: (in rough order of importance)
-tiny and light. think nifty-fifty sized/weight.
-must support Canon's ETTL
-powered by standard battery (AA or AAA) desired.
-will be used at relatively close range during day time as fill flash, so moderate power is desirable.
-AF assist would be great, but probably won't have it with flash of this size. :shake:
-no need for bounce options
-no need for external controls or screen

basically just looking for what's known to most people as pop up flash. :help:
 
what about Canon Speedlite 90EX, even smaller than 270EX! and if I read it correctly, can remotely control my 430ExII?


or Metz 24 AF-1 Digital Flash which looks to have ETTL and IR based AF-assist also cheaper?
 
Canon 270EXII is the obvious choice. And a great little gun it is too - more powerful than the guide number suggests (check it against others at same head zoom setting ;)).

It also has high speed sync, that I find invaluable for fill-in outdoors.
 
here's also this one http://www.nissindigital.com/Di28.html the Di28 from Nissin. I've had a Di622 and have got two Di866's and they are fantastic flashes. I've not used one but if they're anywhere near as good as the larger ones then it'll be great. It's less than 4 inches tall and only weighs 100 gramme without batteries so you'll hardly notice it but it has a guide no. 20 which would about suit your needs and uses 2 AAA batteries as well.
