Tips for shooting a registry office wedding

I've been asked to shoot a friend's wedding at a registry office later in the year. The bride wants to keep things small and informal, and I'm starting to think of what sort of shots would work - obvious and not so obvious!

Does anyone know of any websites with some sample shots to get me inspired?

Any tips from anyone who's done a registry office wedding also appreciated!

Some registry offices are more picturesques than others, have you been for a look round to see what the location is like?

Yup - it's not bad, as they go:

I've done one wedding in my entire life and that was a registrary office.

You probably won't be able to use flash but you seem to have loads of natural light.

I went for a few during the service, bride and groom kissing, signing the registry and a few posed window light shots.

Throwing confetti may be restricted to one area. On mine it was indoors but had a big skylight.

I'm certainly no expert but this is the one experience I have had.

I've only shot 1 registry office wedding. I entered the wedding room as the assistant Registrar was setting up. On seeing me he said that as I was the official photographer I would be the only person allowed to use flash during the ceremony. Well handy. Rather like your venue it had a lot of natural light but still needed flash. Most important shots inside, rings, kiss, smiles, signing. Check out web for posing the B&G. I'm sure they'll have a list of must have group shots, enlist the help of best man and ushers. Be bossy without being unpleasant. Good luck.
Let's see some shots later this year.

as Trevor says, the rings, the kiss etc and the signing

I try to concentrate on close ups of the couple if possible, pictures of people sitting around aren't really interesting

Firstly check that photography is allowed. I've had the last two registry offices not allowing any pics.

Thank heavens for remote cameras and pocketwizards! ;)
