Hi i am going to a bird show tomorrow and defo taking the camera. Just wanted a few tips as i no it is going to be a sunny day.

Is there anything i should change on the camera before hand?? I will be shooting in aperture mode.

Also i guess it best to get the sun behind me.

Many thanks

yes, or use flash or a reflector or just naturally reflected light to provide some fill in light to match the exposure of the subject to the background.

I'm a sucker for sun in shot, sometimes kissing the edge of the image/subject atm... could work well for birds, ditto a shillouette.

Make sure matrix metering is on, though give spot or centre weighted a try too.. This would depend on the light.. try to get the sun behind you.

Though going to manual and pushing up the shutter speed and shooting into the sun might give good results. Close the aperture down too for best results.

Try different things and think on your feet for new ideas....

watch the birds dont shot on you...

any photography against the light will degrade...get the sun on the side for modelling and use speed priority...if possible...birds twitch around a bit even when idle

Don't pan into the sun, did that the other week at Briony's and god it hurts your eyes :bang:
