To Brand or Not

After a brief coffee break/bored meeting question was asked are we better to advertise ourslves as individual eg. photography by joe bloggs or should we aim high and make a brand for ourselves eg. the big bad photography agency.



Thoughts and opinion would be very much appreciated

All depends how you want to market yourself, as an individual artist or an actual studio/brand name. Some customers maybe drawn to the "big bad photo comapnay" while others like the idea of a more intimate individual name, I wouldn't say it makes much of a difference to be honest.

Do you need a brand? Are you commercial? Has your product reached a quality level whereby a brand is effective - if you are still growing, perhaps branding is wrong until your product is polished enough, otherwise your brand will become recognised in a way you don't want...
