To buy a LCD busted d80 and fix or not?

They are a very reasonable buy 2nd hand so (IMO) it would have to be an absolute bargain to go for it.

Rear LCD. Pics from seller look bad. They do claim everything else is ok. And it does look as though just the screen is bad.

Currently at fifty ukp. So say goes for seventy and the new LCD is fourty. Hundred n ten ish for a working camera. Against second hand of three hundred.

Butcthere us a chance it's not an easy fix. :/

prolly won't bother but thought it might be a good idea to see the options

Why not get in touch with Nikon or Fixation to find out what the worst case scenario would be?

It is not too expensive to get parts from Nikon. I bought a replacement LCD glass for the D1x a while ago and replaced it. There are plenty of strip down diagrams about too. I wouldn't go too high with an offer though as you don't know exactly what is wrong with it and so cannot accurately assess the cost of the parts. It's worth the figure quoted at the moment but probably not much more.

If it's just the LCD glass it's no big thing, even if it needs an LCD it's not a big job if you can use a screwdriver....

To be honest if the screen is damaged due to some kind of impact I'd be very worried about further problems about to rear their ugly heads.
Buy a good one is my advice, you know it makes sense :)

Just to give you an idea just the glass for the D1x inc postage was £17 direct from Nikon. The problem is knowing exactly what need replacing :)
