Ok so I'm ready to buy a camera, I don't really have a budget but the 60d seems a fair price. To buy or not to buy? What factors should be off putting for me and what lens shall I get? I'm going for the 50mm f1.8, bear in mind im an amateur. I also have use of a 18-55 non IS kit lens that my girlfriend owns.

Also any idea when the 60d will be "old hat". thanks.

It came out last August, I'm not sure if they replace them yearly or..?

The maximum would be £800 I'd say and I'll be shooting at automative events as a hobby only. I see you're from Hertfordshire, I live in London :D

Does it need to be a brand new one or would you look at second hand? The 60D is a good camera - the only thing I didn't like about it was the casing felt cheap against the 50D. I'd have a look at both the 50D and 60D and compare them

Had a look at the 50D and it felt more solid but I love the fact that the 60D has a swivel LCD, HD recording and of course its still in production. It can be second hand but ideally I'm just looking for a 60D.

Just wondering if they are problematic (I heard 7D had its common faults) and if they will be old any time soon?
