Hi guys.. I am having a big headache trying to decide which lens I should get.. For a moment there I was sure that the dx i was for me until I read more reviews about the dx ii. But from what I understand, the main difference in the dxi and ii is that the newer version has a autofocus motor for Nikon cameras. So I'd wanted to know if it's any useful since I am using a Canon.

Secondly, I was reading up Ken Rockwell's review of the dxi and dxii. He suggests canon users to go for the Ef-s 10-22. Any thoughts???

My primary use for the lens is to take indoor group shots, landscape and architecture.

Thanks in advance!

I like things to match, so I'd be going for the canon - but that is more due to my OCD than anything else!

Another one for you to consider. The Tokina 12-24mm f/4 - built like a tank and works a treat!

I've got one and absolutely love it. I wanted to buy the 11-16 but I was in New York wanting to shot wide angle and B&H didn't have any in stock so i ended up buying the 12-24. Haven't regretted it for 1 minute. I've recently bought a Canon 5D MkII and it works on this too from about 17mm.

From what I've read, quality wise it betters the Canon & Sigma UWA's and is only bettered by its 11-16 brother, however it has a 'better range', assuming you don't want 11mm, that is. Most of my favourite photos have been taken with my Tokina and take it from a pixel peeper, it can take a lovely image. I have 3 of my own photos on my walls at home, printed at 50 inches x 25 inches, all taken with this lens and they look stunning. Also, don't worry about f/2.8 as you don't really need that for landscape photography. Most of my best shots are between f/11 and f/22.

Easy.

Canon 10-22.

Not that easy

I
Bought the 11-16 and have been very impressed with it

It's not one of those use it every day lenses but is tack sharp

I doubt you'll regret getting one

I own the 11-16 and the 10-22. The horrendous flare from the 11-16 seemed a pretty good reason to regret getting it.

i will get 11-16, Due to the F2.8 and sharpness.... it's the greatest DX superwide angle lens, get it !

Why would you want f/2.8 on a UWA?

Anyway, clear cut for crop UWA on Canon. It starts with a capital C and ends in 2...

Shooting a wedding in dark church or hall or aurora for example? A better performance at f/5.6 at the very least?

Thanks everyone... I've decided to get the tokina!

Hi just wondering which version of the Tokina 11-16 you went for.
I am after the Tokina 1 or 2 myself for Canon but not sure if its worth the extra money for not a lot more really, for Canon users.
If anyone else has tried both of these, or regretted but either one over the other version, please let me know.

Thanks.
