Yes
I going to sell my Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 and get something wider.
10/11/12mm, it doesn't really matter. As long as its sharp and focuses fast in low light.

I have a Tamron 28-75mm so losing the long end of the 17-50mm isn't a problem.

I have narrowed it down to,

Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8
Tokina 12-24mm f/4

Which is sharper?

Jon, done a bit of searching about this and by all accounts, for the money, the Tokina 12-24 is the boy. Better resolution and less CA than the 11-16mm and the Siggy 10-20mm. The Tokina 12-24 is apparently as good, if not better, than the Nikon 12-24.

Cheapest place I've found is onestopdigital. Think it was £350 for the original 12-24 and £390 for the new mk2 version. Uk sellers are all over £400.

Let me know how you get on...

I had the 12-24mm and found it to be very very sharp in the central area of the picture and the sharpness is less so outside middle 1/2 and the extremities are always going to be difficult due to the wide angle. but i sold it due to the vignetting issue cos it did have a constant 1/3 to 2/3 fall off at the 4 corners from 12-15mm regardless what aperture.

i have debated the 11-16mm over the 12-24mm and went for the later purely on cost as the 11-16 at the time was £200 more and i think it is even more of the case now :)

edit - i am considering going down the route of using fisheye for UWA ;)

I have the 11-16 and I love it. Nice and fast and very sharp indeed. If you want to have a look at some pics there are loads on my Flickr.
