Tokina 12-24 ATX PRO

Having taken a chance on this, bought as not working from the classifieds, I sent it away to Hahnel (Tokina Ireland) for repair, it was the iris circuit that was at fault, so had a new one fitted.
It was posted back to me on Thursday last week and arrived today, I tried it straight away and got the dreaded err on the LCD so after about 1 hr out of its box I tried it again and again and it functions perfect now, could the err have been thrown up by condensation on the contacts as I cant get it to err anymore.
Total cost of lens with the repair and a new hood is £170 bargain or not?
Also the test shots in the garden with horrible light are very sharp, sorry deleted them so cant post any.

Hi Pete;

I'd give Tokina (Ireland) an email or call and see why it did that error code after it's repair, very strange. See if Tokina themselves can shed any light on what happened etc...? I'm sure it's covered by warranty.

Thanks Pete, just had it outside again to test again, no messages and done a few shots at different aperture/shutter speed and cannot get it to do it again, it now has a 12 month warranty so wont worry too much, heres a quick test shot completely untouched, looks pretty sharp to my untrained eye.

Edit:taken on a very dull afternoon in extremely dull, grey light

That's the main reason I bought it and had it repaired, we do a lot of camping and have seen some spectacular scenery, only never had a decent lens to capture it.

Well all seems well, after having it back a few days and trying it quite a lot, the message only appeared the once (when I first tried it) so looks like it was probably condensation on the contacts, I have contacted Tokina who have said it was tested on numerous bodies and worked as it should, I have got a few shots using it and it really is a nice sharp lens................so now I am happy with it.
