Yes
I ordered one of these this morning and wondered if anyone else has one? There doesn't seem to be much chatter about the lens outside of a glowing Ken Rockwell review .

Basically I'm off on holiday to Norway on a cruise this weekend and wanted something a little wider than the Nikon 30mm f/1.8 AF-S can offer and plumped for this.

Tokina 12-28 is not on general sale yet.

Great news, my lens arrived after ording it Monday morning at 08:30. Not bad at 52 is hours.

Bad news, I was broken into last night while at work and they stole my camera bag along with the D7000 and all the lenses inside.

And I'm the only person I know who shoots Nikon, so can't even test the lens to see if it's a load of bread.

Sorry to hear your news. I hope they catch the barstewards.

What I can say even without a camera is that the lens doesn't have a metal focus ring like Rockwell said it does. Both are very definitely rubber type material.

Thats really unlucky, hope you get your gear back :(

on the topic of the lens, im looking for an UWA atm and it did seem to be a good deal, good range from 12-28, constant aperture f4 and apparently Tokina's are known for being well built (i have no personal experience). This one can be had at £400 from DigitalRev, not much more compared to the 12-24 at iirc £360 and the 11-16 f2.8 at £380. I am very tempted by it, but need to wait till payday :D:bonk:

I got mind from Digital Rev, very pleased with the delivery as I ordered it at 08:30 on Monday and it arrived at about 14:00 on Wednesday, just a little miffed that they say they'll mark it correctly for customs and that I won't have to pay any, but then they mark it fraudulently to slip past.

The decision I have to make now is whether to replace everything with Nikon stuff again or to swap to Canon. I liked my D80 and my D7000, and originally went with Nikon because when I bought the D80, the comparative Canon felt very cheap in my hand.

Now though not only is my brother in law employed by Canon (hurrah for family discounts) but the 10 people I know IRL that have DSLRs also have Canon gear.

The insurance should they pay out will just send a cheque, they don't actually care what you do with it. So the opportunity is there to swap over.

Currently the things tying me to Nikon are a collection of empty boxes, this Tokina paperweight, and the lens cap from my 50mm lol. I have asked my B-I-L to get me a price on the 60D the 70D and the 7D and I'll see what happens. Looks like the 7D isn't getting the mkII till the middle of next year so I'll not wait that long.

Also need to look at what differences there are between those models and the D7000 I had but that is for another thread. Were I to stick with Nikon I would probably go for a D7100 now.

No problem Kyle :)

I got prices from my mate and Canon are doing another round of cashback till the end of October too. Should probably make a thread about the practicalities of swapping from anyone that did it.

My boss has kindly offered me his 7D for my holiday this week which I'll be collecting tomorrow so at least I can play with it for a week.

EDIT: here's the thread. http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=501129
