Too close for comfort

Strange how birds react to hawks isn't it? The owl was never in any danger from the kestrel as the kestrel is far too small. If it'd been a crow it would most likely have attacked the kestrel, which I witnessed yesterday near Slimbridge. A kestrel was hotly pursued by a very angry crow and dove into a barn with the crow following. I have no idea what happened next. It could have been nasty.

Fantastic photo. Kestrels often steal prey from Short-eared Owls so that could be why the owl was not looking too thrilled :)

I just don't seem to be so lucky as to get the chance to get shots like that.
