..............and free/cheap software, etc etc..
I am not in a position to do this right away but I want to create a blog/website for photographers of all levels in which they can look up links to all sorts of stuff that will help them to learn, recap on something or find inspiration. And also include Top Tips for different genres of photography.
I have been collecting photography tips, good blog links (e,g The Strobist), links to good software/plug-ins/actions/ presets etc, free training vids on the net. (fave and useful youtube links e.g.)
This is a non-commercial thing and something I plan to start after the summer. (Just for the hell of it!).
I would appreciate if TPer's could add their top tips or fave links etc on this thread for me to use.

Hope to use that AliB
Can you help? Hope the mods approve? If not please delete my thread!

Little trick for you
I call it the 8-6-4 rule.
F8, 1/60 sec ISO400. Stick the flash on ETTL and off you go.
The blackness you describe is due to you not having enough ambient light so your subject if flash lit only. In summer drop the ISO to 200.
Try it for indoors work. It just works
