Torch for night photography

Hard to say depending on what your going to do with it. I know a lot of people who use Lenser T7 and P7, ive just started using the P7 myself after using a P5 for a good few months, excellent torches!
 
What do you need the torch for?

I generally use the smallest bright torch I can find. Right now I have a small maglite which fits in a trouser pocket. Anything which requires a free hand to bring it along will be useless IMO.
 
I think "You get what you pay for" comes to mind here unfortunately. My dad has had a couple of those type of torches and they last about 5 minutes when new, then about a minute after a month or so...

Better to get a much smaller LED torch like something from Fenix or an outdoor shop.
 
I would also second that, I bought a 3 pack of small LED torches for £9 a bout a month ago from Argos. They were to be used for my Orb tool, however the two that I have used have burnt out already. I suppose I am a bit of a Lenser fan-boy just now but I do highly recommend them, being able to focus from a flood beam to a nice bright spot is really handy! At less than £30 on Amazon the P5 is great and I'm sure you could get a P7 or T7 on E-bay for less.

The P5 was used for the shots below: The first was my first attempt at Light-Painting so its not great, was used to light the outside of the building using the flood beam.
