....no, not what you think! ;) :p

Recently purchased a scruffy 5D2(here... http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=458959) and having searched the internet for a way to make it a bit more presentable, i decided to give this stuff a try...

with just one application and once it's dried out, a buff up with your finger, it's almost indistinguishable that it's ever had a scrape or bump. I expect with another couple coats on certain areas, you'll hardly notice anything, without close inspection.

It will be interesting to see if it stays on or wears off quick.
 
I would hope those are before shots? As you'd see those scratches a mile off!
 
I grabbed my relatively new 3LT Adrian tripod with my Fenix LD22 torch in the same hand last night, both torch and tripod suffered some battle-scar :shake: :bang:

thanks for the heads up, interested to see how well they stay on.

Thats not the point. The way you were talking we should barely see any scratches.
 
The way I'm talking is its, better than before!

So in trying to be slightly amusing and maybe help someone in a similar position, I get someone criticising it...well worth posting. :bang:
 
Definitely a lot better than what it did look like. Will be interesting to see how long it will last

Perhaps before and after shots would have been better.

I can just imagine the disappointed ebayer who buys the "mint condition" after one!

If you bothered to click the link in my initial post, you would see how the camera looked.

And I don't intend selling it to someone without disclosing its true condition.

FFS I can't believe I'm having to explain and stand up for myself here. What a forum!!
 
Christs sake guys and gals click the first link to the original sale to see the horrible condition, the £6 pen has done a very good job

I think it looks a lot better, and for under a tenner you can't argue. Think I'll get myself one of these pens.
 
That's touched up a treat Dave based on the original scrapes.
 
For the price of a couple of beers you cant grumble with that.Much better mate.How long does it take to dry properly?

Glad some people can appreciate it looks a bit better...not perfect, but better.

Stuart, if its thin enough, it dries within a minute. If thick, then a couple minutes. Have found it builds in thickness very quickly with a couple coats too and with a buff up, it's very very similar in colour to the body.
 
Thanks for the reply Dave..looks like a handy bit of kit to have in the bag,or draw in my case as knowing my luck it would leak :D
 
Lol. As long as you don't end up swallowing it then your fine!

Says on the cover, it can cause cancer! :eek:
 
Hmmm, this looks interesting. I have an old olympus film camera in black. It has a few worn corners. Half wondering about giving this a blast to tidy it up a little.

Thanks for the post - I found it funny! Also it is a lot better than when you bought it. This will no doubt be of use to somebody (just hopefully not dubious resellers!!)

I love the used look it means whatever it is it looks like it was money well spent as its owner has actually used it.

Of course I feel bad when I scratch a brand new toy but first I get over it fairly quickly, second once it has a ding or a scratch or a bit of paint come off I don't treat it like its some sort of precious stone and so enjoy it more. To top it all off if it is second hand it will not lose that much more value anyway.

Regardless good job with the covering it up :)

Yep, first thing I do is chuck my new camera in a bag with some gravel and nails then after 5 minutes of chucking it up and down the stairs it's good to go. :bonk: ;)

The touch up pen has done a good job there. Obviously can't make the scuffs and scrapes disappear but it's a lot better then before and even better that it only cost a few £.
 
Great find, just bought some for my 1d mkiin - the guy I bought it off must have mainly used it while dragging it behind a car, looks like this will make it a bit more presentable! Thanks for posting, definatley handy for some!

One poor post out of many positive doesn't make a poor forum.

I've used some similar leather products for restoring seats and you have to build in in lots of thin layers. I'd suggest getting a tiny modelling paintbrush.

Well done mate, I always thought about improving the aesthetics of that body, but quite frankly I couldn't be bothered. I hate viewing my equipment as a trophy.

Done a bit more work to it and it certainly helps it. Don't think it's going to be very hard wearing, but the odd touch up isn't the end of the world. The appearance didn't bother me in the slightest, but I figured it was worth a go, just for the fun of it! :D
 
Well the thread title tickled me! :D

It looks like that pen worked very well, although in a way I kind of like my gear getting 'war wounds' as long as they don't affect functionality. Shows it's worked and hasn't just been sat on a shelf all it's life! :lol:
