touchpad/mouse has a mind of it's own... Why??

I've a MSI U100 Wind netbook - the touchpad mouse pad has started to have a mind of its own where it doesn't want to move to the left or right and just about goes up & down when you run your finger along it... Also it jumps all over the place usually in the complete opposite to where I actualy want the cursor to go to - it also stays in the same place and will move about a cm then goes back to the same spot - then it will jump to the opposite side of the screen and do the same thing..

In short its like 2 magnets - where you put the 2 ends together and it pushes itself apart...

If I click standby and then try again the mouse/touchpad seems to be fine for a couple of hours & then starts to play up again...

:thinking: Whats wrong with this piece of crap - any ideas :shrug:
 
Touchpads are basically pressure pads, if they get old or get knocked so the pads are damaged they can start to act up.

You could also try the latest drivers for it but I suspect its dying.
 
Get the same issue on mine sometimes, won't go where I want it and then suddenly as I'm typing it jumps all over the place of its own accord and starts in the middle of a previous sentence ... I end up hitting it :annoyed: not sure if it helps but makes me feel better!
 
Don't know too much about this, but there were a lot of complaints about the insertion point randomly jumping around - and inserting text where it wasn't wanted - on some forums a while back. The problem seemed worst with Windows 7 and some laptops, including Vaios. I found a few solutions on the internet but the only one that worked, sort of, was downloading a little utility called Touchfreeze. Thing is, I have to download it and reinstall every time Windows updates itself. Not 100% solution, but OK. I'd be glad to hear any other suggestions?

:thumbs: So glad I'm not the only one :lol:

Have got thru 3 laptops in the past where I've lost it with them - usually a fist thru the screen usually helps :$
 
Have you got one of them joystick things in the middle of the keyboard? I've got one on my laptop and it was that which was moving the cursor around. Disabled it and everything is fine with just the touchpad.

Just a thought.
