No TVR quoted those figures what cars actually achieve is not the same thing ;)

Of course, they all lie! The 5 litre Rover V8 has been tuned to over 500 bhp - I don't see your point (again :))

Been tuned to over 900 hp if you want to get picky - however that has nothing to do with TVR being extremely optimistic with their power outputs :boggle:

Since we're off topic.
TVR weren't the only car manufacturer to get optimistic with their figures, but generally they weren't far off. With the later cars they were generally spot on, apart from some of the later AJP 4.5 engined cars that left with a poor map (part of the 95 octane thing) so only produced 360-370, not the 400 as claimed, that the older cars roughly reached with super unleaded. (I know of one that produces over 400bhp, as it was straight out of factory). It's actually quite amazing that some of the vehicles still make similar amounts of power after 15-20 years without anything other than periodic maintenance.

Even so, 320-340bhp and 280ft/lbs torque from a rover v8 is pretty good as it was what 150bhp and 150ft/lbs torque in original 3.5l

Now I've got the better V8. My car had a claimed 350bhp, always made 343 to 347bhp, before tuned length manifolds, and a little mapping to smooth out the curve brought a few gains.

And that's from a dyno that's known not to be optimistic (some dynos/figure recorded are 20bhp+ higher).

It's worth noting that TVR power have a huge experience of the V8 engines (as well as the speed 6 and AJP8) and are offering long warranties on their engines.

Just thought I'd drop it into the conversation as a possible cheap, performance alternative that the OP might not have thought of. Sorry didn't think I'd get into a 'discussion' on the merits of TVR. ;) I'll shut up now.

All I can say is "There is no substitute for inches"..... sorry "Cubic inches"

Anyway.......

Isn't TP a nice place to be?....... !!
