My Xbox was looking like it was on its way out so I’ve bought a new slimline 250gb one. Of course as soon as I ordered the new one my old one has worked no problem at all.

What I’d like to know is what would be the best way to transfer my saved games etc. from my original to the new one. I think the total size is only around 2 GB so is usb the best way to do it?

I had a quick play with a usb and for some items it had the option to copy but others the only option was move does that mean it will remove the saved games from the old one and not just copy them?

Also I thought I’d try to use the old one in another room seeing as it is now working ok so if I want to use a different console is it possible to just transfer the saved games from skyrim for example so I can carry on playing from the same point on the other console?

Hope this makes some sort of sense

Have just done the same for my son's! Emptied the cache he told me and all's been fine! I think he just wanted a new one lol

On the upside it came witrh 2 games, 12 months XBox live Gold, a new controller that he needed and a new headset that he needed - So not too sore - if I sell his it will not have cost much extra.

i bought the transfer kit on ebay when he upgraded his 20Gb drive to the 250Gb one and it worked fine.

That's a good price I might get one so I can back up to my pc ect something always worth having.

Check that you can't get the transfer cable free from microsoft - when I bought a new console, and needed to transfer my save games, I was able to register my new console, and order the transfer cable free from xbox.com

Sorry to drag this thread up but for anybody looking for an official Microsoft transfer cable gamestation sell them for £15.
