Travel bag for D700

Any recommendations for a camera for the D700 and ones additional lens. need something lightweight and small for holiday travels.
 
How about a backpack that you can add other things into - say the Lowepro Fastpack 200 or so. Plenty space in the bottom for the camera / lens and space in the top section for other stuff.
 
I'd second (...third...) the recomendation for a rucksack-style bag. Apart from being very practical to carry, it doesn't look like it contains thousands of pounds worth of gear, so makes you a bit less of a target for low-lifes...

I have a Lowpro (Fastpack 250...I think...) and its in excellent condition despite being slung in and out of everywhere daily - it takes camera, lenses etc, laptop, and very importantly - lunch!:banana::beer:

Try the new light weight kata bags, very very light, hardly feel the weight on your back. Pricey tho.

What's the protection like? If they are very light, are they still well padded? Cheers.
 
thanks for the feedback guys. I might look at one of the lowepro rucksack style bags so atleast I can store more than the camera whilst on holiday (mainly wifes shopping!)

Protection is good- well for me anyway. I certainly wouldn't call it flimsey by any stretch of the imagination. Most of the weight savings are made through using lighter materials.

I use a Kata Sensitivity V - also carries my laptop and lunch!

When on holiday the laptop side carries paper for the kids to doodle on and the top pocket is free for suncream etc.

Just padded enough and been carrying a D700 w/50mm 1.4G, 20mm F2.8D and 105mm Macro AF-S with no damage for over 18months...
