(Travel) Tripod Recommendations

Hi all
Developed a back problem recently so i'm looking to downsize from my Gitzo 5 Sysatematic for a sturdy but light tripod that I can easily carry attached to my back pack for long walks that will also double as a travel tripod for trips away. I'm a Nikon D810 shooter with the heaviest glass being a 70-200.
With so many options out there it's a bit difficult to narrow it down to a few so any advice is much appreciated.
Budget is £300-£400 tops and doesn't need to come with a head.

Cheers
Neil

Interesting....I've heard good things re FLM tripods.....Do you own this one?

Thank everyone for your advice!

I did then gave it to my daughter because she carries a tripod around much more than I do.
Hopefully that's some sort of recommendation in itself, wouldn't give a loved one something that was no good
It also had this ball head https://www.speedgraphic.co.uk/ball__socket/flm_cb32f_ball_head/4080_p.html with Arca compatible clamp https://www.speedgraphic.co.uk/arcaswiss_type/flm_srb40_quick_release/22648_p.html

Really do think their stuff is good, I have had owned Gitzo tripods (series 1 and 3) but preferred the FLM
Think their is someone else on here who sings their praises, possibly Mr Bastable, but a search will reveal all

They make a newer five leg travel tripod, this video shows it in better detail
Thinking about getting one myself, bought a Manfrotto Befree GT, decent enough, but not the same

Feisol ct-3442 or ct-3342 if you can find one. I use these for everything and they are great

I have a Gitzo so know where the bar is set.

For travel, try a Sirui NT-1005X from Amazon. No affiliation.

Not as tall as a Gitzo but collapses to ~12 inches and extends to maybe 4ft with centre extension. Allows under as well as over tripod mounting. Legs can be splayed to near horizontal. It’s really stable without major wind but has a hook to weigh under baseplate.

The ball head isn’t really up to pro series cameras at angles other than vertical (despite what they say) and it takes a certain train of thought to work out how it collapses but otherwise build quality and stability are really good. For the money/size/performance it’s a real bargain.

It’s not carbon fibre but has a lot of (uncanny) similarities to the Gitzo design concept.

I think this design has been used by several different companies, or they are all made from the same factory with different labels put on.

Mine has the same joints and feet, except it is carbon fibre.
