Hi all. I am going to London for a few days and fancy taking a little tripod eg: light one. I have £50 birthday money. Camera is a 6d with 24 /105 lens, do have smaller lenses but this is an all rounder.
Can anyone reccomend something.

I saw one called a Sirui T-005 Travel Tripod but was unsure of it's suitablity.

We've had loads of recent threads on travel tripods and the search facility will find them for you. FWIW I went with a Manfrotto BeFree as I like lever locks on the legs and it has four-section legs but the Sirui looks okay if you don't mind twist locks and five-section legs. I'm waiting for the Sirui ET-1204 to become available here as a possible improvement on the BeFree.

There aren't many good tripod's that will support the weight of a 6D and 24-105mm lens confortably for under £50, but a quick look on Amazon and there's a fairly decent one http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00KNJ2QUA?psc=1 that says it will support upto 8kg which is fairly impressive as most cheap ones only support around 1.5-2kg.

Hi There Gordon. I ordered the one you linked too. Apart from the gold colouring this should be fine for occassional use if not I shall ebay it :-)

you only need a tripod for fireworks night shots maybe and astronomy ...do you have VR?

Hi There thanks for stopping by. Hmmmmmm not sure why you have replied to this though. With me wanting a tripod (light) I own a heavy one that I use at home. I would have hoped people replying would assume that I knew when and where to use one eg @ night. Yes I have IS (Canon).

What I am saying is why would you want to carry one about ? set it up ..trip people up and in some places you need a licence to use a tripod in the street and photography is only allowed without a tripod...

No problem I see you have vaild points and don't really want to get into a debate about the use of a tripod.Suffice to say that I had no intention of using said tripod during the day and in a busy area where I would be drawing attention to myself and getting in the way of other folk :-)

you miss the point ...why do you want a tripod anyway ...everyone gave them up years ago ..replaced by VR
 
i've gotta admit, that VR/IS/OS is fantastic these days. Really saved my bacon when I was doing my 30sec exposure shots of waterfalls! :S
