Hi all,
Can anyone here recommend a good travelbag for my Manfrotto 055x PROB tripod and 488RC4 head. I'm travelling to Australia next Febuary and want to bring it on the plane with me.Thank's inadvance...:)

I pack my smaller Manfrotto 190 wrapped in a towel with the head off either length ways in my long bag or diagonally in my suitcase and these go as checked hold luggage. It's too long to go as cabin luggage and could also be construed as a weapon. My 055P only gets used in the UK or abroad only if I'm driving.

Do you mean as Hand Luggage? You might have to check weigh/dimensions on that if so, you know they can be funny about it.

FWIW though, Manfrotto do a tripod bag designed for their pods such as THIS ONE, but there are several depending on dimensions of tripod

I have one of these for my 055 and, whilst it's tough as anything (and makes a handy kneeling mat too!) it is waaaay too big to be able to get on board as cabin luggage, even with a generous crew.

Towel in the suitcase is the best option I think, but bear in mind the added weight.

Lads, thank's very much for all the replys. What i should have mentioned is that i'm looking for something that i can check in as luggage. My camera bag will be my hand luggage...:)

Just saw the post by Yv.I think you hit the nail on the head for me there.Exactly what i was thinking of..Must get onto Kerso now....

In that case (pun intended ;)), you'll probably need something like this.

The Manfrotto case is a sturdy old thing, but I'm not entirely sure I'd want to send it through the baggage process!

If you're into Blue Peter Style....

Buy some Plastic Pipe + end Caps from your local DIY shop & make your own.

You'll have exactly the size you need & It'll be a lot cheaper than "official cases" :)
