Looking for a decent tripod. Been advised to buy the Manfrotto (055) CX-Pro3 carbon fibre model, around £240 ish. Was advised it's pretty lightweight.

Any others I need to look at for around the £200 mark? Nothing too heavy. Need a tripod to withstand a 5D Mk1 with 70-200mm lens etc, and a cheap'ish head.

As usual, experience/advice most welcome, appreciated.

After making a million threads on here about what tripod to use I finally made the upgrade last week.

To start of with I had a Redsnapper 284 with RSH12 ball head. Been totally rock-steady and fine. I've sold it to a member on here which was dispatched this morning to Orkney. However, on long hikes it did get heavy.

So I bought a Benro C257 with B2 ball head - carbon fiber- and it's longer/taller than the Red-snapper and so much lighter. In fact, I am shocked at how light CF is and scared of banging it, lol. Not yet used it in the landscape environment but have had camera on here and appears to be rock-steady. I am 6.4 tall and with my camera on here it's at a very comfy height.

Got mine from dcstuffs of ebay and swift delivery.

Obviously depends on what you want it for landscapes or whatever. Height of it etc etc.

I bought a Manfrotto 190CXPRO3 carbon fibre tripod and I am really pleased with it. The centre pole swings up and out so you can get really low down with it as well.
