Ok,

The wife and I have set £50 budgets for our xmas presents as we've a lot going on in the next 6 months.

I'm after a tripod that is quite light but compact and easy to store (perhaps in a ruksak) at around the £50 mark. I could stretch a little further but don't want one that's way more expensive.

Thanks,

Nick.

Thanks!

Is that head better than a ball head? I assume the only difference is you have more range of movement on the ball head?

I was going to suggest the Redsnapper 284 as well. Just note however that I have the similar 283 and it's not light or portable relative to others. It's not something I would be happy carrying all day on my back. I tend to leave mine in the car boot. Btw, mine came in its own carry case, which is quite robust.
