Tripod for macro

Hi All, my OH has just asked me to write a christmas list and frankly, who am I to argue?!

One thing that I am definately lacking with my kit is a decent tripod. I particularly like macro and wildlife photography and also setting up still life / water drop shots etc. I know that I won't take a tripod out if it is too heavy and I am more likely to use it for set up shots at home. One of my main issues is lack of space - my "studio" is the bedroom floor so being compact and able to get down low is an absolute must.

To give it a bit of context I am currently using a crappy Hama travel tripod - rubbish, but nice and small.

The budget would be about £100 and portablility / getting close to the ground are the main requirements. Any suggestions?

have a look at the manfrotto xmas special offers they have a couple running that may be wort looking at. sorry just had a quick look in the mag i have to hand and could not see the advert.

I use a Velbon sherpa and find it very good value for money.

Have a look at the manfrotto 190 XPro with a ball head (just a little over budget) and add a velbon mag slider to the list to help focusing.

Thankyou for the suggestions - I will take a look at those
