My current tripod is a Manfrotto 190 and have been using a MHXPRO-2W head for video work. The video contract has finished and have sold all the video gear.

So was wondering do I keep the head or sell it and buy something else?

I was thinking about the XPro 3 way head from Manfrotto, the one with the retractable leavers - https://www.manfrotto.com/global/x-pro-3-way-tripod-head-with-retractable-levers-mhxpro-3w/ or maybe this - https://www.manfrotto.com/global/3-...i-in-adapto-with-retractable-levers-mh804-3w/ Budget is no more than £100 new or used

My main camera is the Fuji X-T2 and the biggest lens I use with it is the Fuji 100-400

What are your thoughts please

It's a nice head, simple to use, compact for a pan and tilt.

I like P&T heads, have one on my Manfrotto since day one, like 20 years ago when I got it. The only thing I dislike about it is (purely my fault) is sometimes I forget to lock down one lever properly and I try to pick it up and to swings on the loose end and the camera “drops” to the side. At best it does a hard stop when it reaches the limit of the tilt, at worst it bangs against something or trap one of my fingers underneath!

I like it, but don’t love it, in fact I only buy ball heads now, just 1 lever to lock and if you don’t, it starts moving straight away so you know. It’s also smaller too.

I got this last week, well impressed by it.

I've got that head...

It looks nice, sounds good but it's a pain.... I don't find it as easy to adjust at all, I hate the quick release plate so much rather a acra-swiss release plate. Problem with the Manfrotto quick release system, isn't that quick, ensuring that it's sat in and locked in correctly is fiddly even more so with cold hands. As I found out the other week, my hands were cold (and my finger go numb quite quickly) . I thought I'd locked in probably only to find out 5 minute later that I hadn't when my camera went crashing to the floor.

Thankfully lens and camera survived hitting concrete floor, with very mirror scratches.... But it left me shaking and feeling quite sick. So now I've swapped my old vanguard ball head to the Manfrotto tripod. Not taking any more chances..

Oh, and if you forget to tighten up any of the handles, be prepared to suffer injury, as when I forgot, I was left with torn ligaments and tendons in my index finger, still recovering
