Tripod head for landscape photography

A landscape photographer at a recent presentation said he used a tripod head that would let him rotate his camera only a few 'clicks' at a time when taking multiple shots for a landscape panorama. It was a manual device and did not automatically rotate. Can anyone help please. mere:bang:
 
Not sure if its geared. Will check out the Manafrotto you mentioned. thanks
 
A geared head such as a 410 or better still a 405 will help, to speed things up on mine I use a Novoflex Panorama which has better gradations and smoother rotation. You'll also want to level the tripod up so that it pans in a flat plane, I use a Manfrotto 438 levelling head for that, some people prefer to use their tripod legs to level it up.
