I use No.1 for my general photography but for certain shots (live view tracking) I need to use No.2.
I also need a quick release plate and have found No.3 on the web, do any of you use this plate and will it hold a weighty camera/lens?
Thanks….bri

If you want the same Manfrotto QR plate for the ball head in #2, what Hoppy linked there would do great. But if you're worried about putting a lot of weight on it, why not go for Manfrotto ball head instead? The 498RC2 can handle 8kg with 360 panning etc:

.. but it's a lot more expensive than just the 200PL adapter. Just how much weight are you putting on it?

Isn't this what you want? Same QR plate as the trigger grip.
Thanks Richard, I did look at that but thought No 3 looked a little better (round and not square) but yes, makes sense.

Again thank you Jukka, the weight is about 5kg so that would be fine. Might just sell the two I have and get that one. The Benbow ball I have is very sturdy and strong and years old, one of the first accessories I bought.

I use the 222 head as my main head and have fitted that quick release plate to my mono pod. It makes life much easier.

thanks Darren, my mono pod uses the same quick release and as its only twenty quid I might as well give it a go.

I didn't realise you could get the quick release brackets separately so I posted in the wanted section hoping that someone had a quick release from a tripod that was broken and some kind sole sent me the bracket and quick release :) I attached the bracket to the monopod and then I can switch between the monopod and tripod with either camera.

Incidentally I purchased a couple of the quick release brackets from a chinese seller after that so I could take film camera out and not mess switching brackets and they were about £12 for 2. They are totally indistinguishable from the Manfrotto ones to the extent that I can't now tell which were the genuine ones!

yea I bought half a dozen plates quite some time ago, turned up for a shoot and realised I had left the plate on the foot of my 70-200 :bang:
