I have had a trawl through a fair few threads and can not seem to find an explanation.
im going to get a tripod but cant decide which head to get. Im going to mainly be doing landscapes and slow shutter stuff (light trails, night shots etc)
Is the main difference between a ball head and a 3 way just that the ball head has more maneuverability? Are there any other things to consider?

It's only £100.
I was looking at the redsnapper tripod and ball head or 3 way.
Im sure before the website update the ball head was stated to have a spirit level but now it does not say if it has one.
 
If you do landscape, I would suggest something with a panning feature. I have gone with the Manfrotto 488 RC2 ball head which has the panning feature and a spirit level. Very good head and can take quite a bit of weight and goes perfectly with my 190CX Pro-4 legs.
 
Thanks for the recommendation, the redsnapper is a little cheaper and looks to pan which would keep me in budget.

Can anyone here with the new ball head say if it has a spirit level? Ill ask on the sale thread also.

The RedSnapper RSH-12 ball head doesn't come with a spirit level but I use a hot shoe mounted 2 way level if I'm bothered by exact orientation. For £100 I'd highly, highly recommend the RedSnapper 283 and the RSH-12 combo.

I have phoned Joe and ordered one, he mentioned hot shoe spirit levels. If I find I could do with one ill order at a later date.

Ill be getting it on Tuesday :thumbs:
