Tripod help

Hello, my name is Arron and this is my first post, so hello!



Ok this might be an utter noob question, I have been given a tripod (Manfrotto Art 190) its not a new one, but it looks in good nick.

At the moment, it has this head attached.

Now, I am after buying a new head, possibly a ball head, so I removed this head that was attached, and this is whats bugging me, once I have removed the old head, there is no screw for me to attach the new head? (See image below)



So what do I need, is there a male/male screw that attaches to the tripod so I can attach a head?

The top big metal disk also needs to come off so its just the one big bottom disk left which should have a male screw poking out
