Tripod/Monopod questions

I currently have a jessops own brand tripod, however it is sturdy and i can't fault it. I want to have the option to do some easy panoramic photographs if the opportunity arises. Would it be best to just get a cheap monopod (for abit of stability in Central London) and then find an panoramic adapter for my tripod? or would it be worth going for some more expensive equipment?

Either so, which items would you recommend ?

Thank you

EDIT: I realise i worded the above quite horribly, as i have done with this too!
However, the Tripod would be used for panoramic shots not the monopod, the monopod would be used for stability for normal shots.
but i was wondering if it would be more cost efficient to buy a more expensive tripod, or a monopod and an adapter.

if that makes any more sense lol

Any tripod with a Pan/Tilt head would be fine for panoramic shooting, a monopod would be no good as you get vertical movement as well as horizontal.

Ideally you would get a pano head which moves the camera around the no-parallax point of the lens, meaning you get no movement in the verticals, but I have shot fine panoramas without one.

Ideally you would get a pano head which moves the camera around the nodal point of the lens (the point where the light crosses, meaning you get no movement in the verticals, but I have shot fine panoramas without one.

Yeah the monopod is more for stability when using my 70-300 lens. The tripod will be used for the panoramic shots.
Any examples of a pano head?
