Tripod mount or Camera strap

Have recently (just arrived today) invested in a decent tripod, I now have two choices as far as I can see, have the mounting plate attached or the thing that attaches my Rapid style strap.

Apart from going back to the normal Nikon strap any other suggestions to get around this?

Are there mounting plates available that also let you screw in the Rapid Strap attachment?

Thanks Graham no it was from Elemental, the Epod.

The strap is the Sniper One.

The mounting plate just has a screw through it with no ring on it, so couldn't even attach the strap directly to the plate...if I trusted that solution which I wouldn't
