Tripod mount ring for £140?

Hello All

im looking to get a tripod mount ring for my 70 - 200mm L lens but i really dont want to pay £140 for the canon one. I have seen cheaper alternatives but are they any good? I will get the canon one if I must but it seems a crazy price.

Advice appreciated.

I got a cheap one off eBay for about £12. That was a couple of years age now and it's still going strong.
Some of the ones on eBay now look a lot more like the original canon one so I wouldn't think there would be a problem.

He'll it's only a chunk of metal, with no moving parts, what could go wrong.

Some of the copies don't unlock properly so you can shift from landscape to portrait without removing them, have also seen some that mark the lens barrel

I was lucky that the one from my 400mm fits the 70-200mm, but do agree about the silly price
