Tripod or Monopod?

I'm debating whether to go for a Tripod or Monopod. I want to take landscapes so would have thought the tripod (for low light stuff) would be better. Monopod should be lighter? Just thinking about when I go walking and how heavy stuff is.

Why not buy both, I use a good tripod for most of my landscapes, and a cheap and cheerful monopod (around £10) , and I transfer my ballhead from one to the other as needed.

Yeah could do I guess, just a matter of buying everything at the moment and the budget is well and truly blown!
