Hello,

Looking for a new tripod that i can use in a studio , and possible for out and about, not got a massive budget, approx. £30.

Want one that is fairly sturdy.

Any suggestions?

I would think about the potential value of your kit sitting on a cheap tripod.

Also the more expensive tripods usually have more features with regards to leg positioning and also the centre column.

I found with the aforementioned flexibility and trust with the solidity of the build that my tripod goes everywhere. I'm not saying it always gets used, however my cheapo one bought from Currys years ago never came out its box.

My first tripod was quite similar to this one from Jessops. It may be all you need, however if you are going to be using a tripod - you will very likely replace it anyway.

I have to agree with everyone else about buying cheap, I had a cheapie from jessops when I first started, went out and set up and the wind blew it over. Lucky for me it fell onto my camera bag and suffered no damage.

I would suggest you saved up just a little bit more, worth it in the long run.

I now have a Slik Pro 700DX which cost me £100, the thing is built like a tank.

As other's have said, cheap tripods are a false economy and pointless.

Stretch your budget to £50 and purchase a Redsnapper tripod with head, they have some combos for £49.95. Use the TP 10% off code for some extra bargain-ness....

I recently bought a Redsnapper ball head, and was very impressed with the quality given the nice price.
 
Another vote for redsnapper here.

I bought a cheap one originally from 7 day shop, only to upgrade to a proper one from redsnapper within 6 months. I paid £100 for one with the ball head and given the quality of the product, I think it was great value.
 
Just had a look at the Redsnapper website and the tripod looks solid, is this the case?

Redsnapper are miles ahead of anything else at under £80, solid and reliable, lots of good advice about not buying cheap tripods, been there 20 years ago....
