Hi, Cany anyone point a novice in the right direction please? I have come by a second hand tripod for my spotter scope and camera attached, but it had no release plate with it. The one I have is slightly too small and makes safe, but loose fit. I have identified the tripod as Jinhui SL 2400, but have been unable to source it in the UK, its Chinese. The plate mount is square and seems to be about 43mm. Could anyone suggest a plate that might fit please?

Think you would have to be very lucky to get one as many plates I have seen are not exactly square or have lips or ridges on them. Might be worth trying to pack the current set up you have with spacers.

You will probably have to make the spacers yourself. Something like hard plastic that could be glued to the tripod to fill the space and make the plate you have less loose, but you'd need to be sure it was secure - don't want your scope taking a tumble.
Alternatively how about removing the head that is on the tripod and replacing it with another? It is more expense but might be cheaper than buying another tripod. Might be best to take the tripod to a friendly local dealer to check a new head will fit properly.
