Tripod which one help question

£100-£120 to spend.

I want it for a Lowpro slingshot AW.

Looking for something small and light, knee height, maybe extends to around waist height. Can hold a Canon 7D plus a 70-300 without creep. (I wont use that lens on it but if I say my heaviest I know the rest will be fine).
I do own a manfrotto mkc3 ho1 compact tripod but the creep is bad. It was ok when I had the 550D, but the 7D is to much for it. This is the kind of size I'm looking for.

Recommendations please :ty:
 
Can anyone help? Small tripod that will fit on a backpack or sligshot?
 
Oooo... I'm interested in this too. I recently bought a 202aw and my red snapper doesn't fit. Currys had a Manfrotto in that was very nice and sturdy for £100. Can't remember the model though.

I bought one of these from currys when I had my Canon 550D. It was ok with a kit lens on say, buy now with a 7D and a bigger lens there's to much movement in the head. Shame as it's perfect for the slingshot,

You could look at some of the Sirui models, for example this one has a load capacity of 10kg and good reviews here and here. Not sure about a 7D and 70-300 on it though. I have a different Sirui model (T-005X) but I am not sure I would put a big camera and lens on that (I use it for micro four thirds stuff mainly and also with a Sony A37/A57 but just with a prime lens, so still fairly light). If I plan to go out with a tripod I usually take my Manfrotto (190XPROB) but I got the Sirui because it's so light and small you can fit it inside a bag and have it as a 'just in case' tripod. However the T-1005X does have the claimed load capacity of 10kg whereas mine (T-005X) is only 4kg. Thing is because these tripods are so light and small a big camera/lens would make me nervous (at least on mine). There is a hook to hang a weight (bag etc) from though.

No worries, looks like they also have other similar models which hold more weight for a similar price (around £100 for the legs). Also a couple of reviews on the Canon forums here (T1005X) and here (T1004x). Only seller I can find with legs and head for around £120 is this one from Hong Kong at £104 and VAT would be £20, not sure about duty but did read here that under £135 = no duty (over £135 is 3.7% for that category (photography/tripods) - but that website could be wrong on that!?

I find the legs ok when compact, it's the head that isn't rock solid on mine.

Really helpful Mark thank you. I really like the look of that Sirui T1005X travel tripod. I like the idea of the small center pole. I'm going to have to do some searching about. Not that keen on buying it from HK in case it's not for me.
