Can anyone recommend a tripod that is light (c.0.90kg) but extends to a half decent height of about 1.20m? Im aware Manfrotto used to make one, the 785B or something but I cant seem to find the new version of it on their website now they have so many models and no comparison tool. Its only to sit a flash unit on.

Any help much appreciated.
 
My Aluminium Benro Travel Angel comes in at 1 kg and extends to 1.35m if I remember correctly.
 
I might be stating the obvious here, but have you thought about just using a light stand for this :shrug:, as they can be cheaper than tripods and are usually able to cover a lot more height range?

This one, for instance, cost 20 quid and goes from 85cm to 220cm :naughty:, although it might be slightly heavy at 1.4kgs ...

It needs to be compact for carrying (hence light) as its for mountain biking photography.

:shrug: But I suggested a 'light' stand :D!

OK, what about this one (http://www.sliktripod.co.uk/pages/sprintmini.html) ?

Weighs 780g with the ball head, extends to 110cm, folds down to 35cm :eek: and costs about £50 :shrug:.

I have one and it's perfect for fitting into a rucksack or a medium camera bag :thumbs:.

I should have suggested that first, instead of the light stand :lol:.
