My manfrotto tripod head snapped - I think it might have been given a rough time on a recent trip abroad.

I'm looking for new heads - any recommendations?

Also, what are the main differences between the legs for photo and video tripods? Are the video ones just more sturdy with a higher weight rating?

It depends on what you need it for, I shoot landscapes and am a big proponent of geared heads, I use both a 405 and a 410, the only thing I'd swap them for is the Arca Cube but they are £££s

To make it Arca Swiss compatible, I put a Benro B2 on my previous Manfrotto.
Looked and worked good.

Got it from DC Stuff at eBay. Recommended.

Hmm, those redsnappers are just Benro travel angels aren't they? Not a bad thing I'm after said travel angel myself eventually!

Anyway heads - I have a Benro ballhead that's nice but a little too small for my gear really. (KS-0). Can't fault the product at all though. One of the bigger ones would be very nice indeed.

Sounds more like he mistreated his gear rather than had a bad experience with Manfrotto.

I agree with Mark regarding the geared heads, the 410 is a cracking bit of kit.
