Yes
I was editing some files recently and when i came to view the finished article photoshop flashed a warning that the file was truncated, having looked at some older edits today on the same hard drive these are also "truncated" when opened the files have lines running through them.
Is this a hard drive issue or a virus? Has any one else had this and if so what did you do?
Cheers, Nick

Appears to be a overheating hard drive, i have a caddy which allows me too swap hard drives for use as back up, when i removed the drive in question it was too hot to touch! May also be the cause of a recently failing Power Supply!

hard drives can get hot though, remember theyre a constantly spinning motor. although poor ventilation wont help/

when you say you tried a scan on the drive did you do a:

chkdsk X: /r

(where X is the drive letter)

Yes, chkdsk was used as the scan. I have never known a hard drive to get as hot as this one Neil, its an old drive and not particularly big, i haven't lost any data, will just have to re-edit a few RAW files so no great damage done. Just thankful i found out now before the drive fails completely. thanks for your advice.
