Two settings questions

Hi guys, i have a fuji s200EXR and have a 2 questions on what some setting are, and what i should have them on.

what is 'Dual IS mode'? it gives me two options, continuous, shooting only and off, they have pics of a shaky hand next to them. So what does it mean, and should i switch it of when i am using a tripod or am I getting the wrong end of the stick?

what is 'AE-lock mode' ? it gives me the options of AE-L 1 and AE-L 2

I'm guessing here, not familar with that particular camera.

IS uses a bit of battery power. You obviously need it when actually taking the photo, especially when the lens is on max zoom, but you will often be able to frame and compose your picture with out it, in which case the shoot-only mode would be okay if you tend to spend a long time preparing each shot.

AE means Auto Exposure. An AE-lock allows you to lock the exposure in situations that might fool the metering system. For example, shooting a portrait against a bright background such as sea or sky, the meter will be mislead by the brightness resulting in underexposure. So you would set the exposure by pointing the camera down and away from the bright area, lock it, and then recompose the picture.

Not sure why you would want two modes for doing this. Maybe AE-L 2 also locks the focus at the same time? Hmm. Not sure about that. Sorry I can be more certain.

thanks for the help, I understand them now.
WIll maybe dig up the instructions later, but at the time they were all the way up stairs and I was all the way down in the living room, and it was boxing day
