I have 3 lenses at the moment the;

The 18-55 f3.5-5.6 IS

50mm f1.8

70-200 f4l

Im buying a 7d Soon And I'm looking for a lens to replace the 18-55 at some point, I was thinking either the 15-85 f3.5-5.6 or the 28-135 f3.5-5.6 or would it be worth buying another prime lens maybe the 28 f1.8.

I do a wide variety of shots, mainly wildlife and gig photos for my friends band but also the occasional event at school and portrates for people I know (all just for fun)
 
If you dump the 18-55 for a 28-135 you'll lose the wide coverage the 18-55 gives you so 15-85 is the natural choice for a crop body, especially as you have 70mm onwards covered with the 70-200.
For the sort of stuff you're looking to do a 28mm 1.8 would probably be very useful, not cheap though. ;)
 
I know you haven't mentioned you do much landscape work, but looking through your photos you have some really nice shots, you not considered going wider? like the 10-20 sigma? not that I own one! just that's the next lens I intend to buy :)
 
If you're looking to buy the 15-85mm new, then I'd be more inclined to look for a second hand 17-55/2.8 at roughly the same price.

Thankyou and yea I do a bit but that's normally just when I go on holiday or up to my friends farm, which isn't often, I was considering a wider one, I haven't decided yet, how is sigma as a brand?

I am swaying on towards the prime, I love my 50 f1.8 and a 28mm will be more like a 50mm on a 7d and amazon is selling it for £379 which isn't bad I guess, I got my 70-200 f4l for £450 new

Edit: I'm not selling my 18-55

Well, I know a guy with the 10-20 and it seems to be a cracking lens! the Canon 10-22 I think gets better reviews, but has a much steeper price tag.

Sigma in my opinion are a great brand, I'm sure others here might offer an opinion if they have had a bad experience?

I was actually looking to buy the 15-85 used from here for around the same price as the 28 f1.8 new, £350 I think it was on here for

I've had a look at it on dp preview, I'm not liking the fisheye look too much I think I would either like a lens that covered wide angle up too the short end of my 70-200 or a prime shorter than my 50 so I have a better range and or to help reduce the amount of lens swaps I have to do (I tend to miss some moments :/)
 
I'm worried here, I read some reviews that the 28 f1.8 is soft?? even when stopped down? i dont know what to believe since some reviews say that its sharp and others say that it isn't, can anyone help??

Btw i have £300 left over from christmas so any other suggestions would be welcomed within that pricerange (so about 300-350 max)
 
Not got a magazine handy to check prices but if your budget stretches to it, I would go for a Sigma 10-20 and a Sigma 24-70 f/2.8. The usual caveat re Sigmas applies - check the actual lens you'll be buying before handing over the card/cash - people have reported QC issues (and some people have even experienced them in person!). Maybe I'm lucky but none of the several Sigmas I own or have owned have suffered (and they've all been the first copy I tried too) any problems.
