UK Amazon and warranty

If you buy a camera or lens from Amazon does anyone know if this is UK puchase and hence qualifies as UK warranty. Or is it a grey import as far as warranty goes?
 
If you buy it from Amazon itself I don't think there would be any problems. People trading within Amazon could pose a problem.
 
If you buy from Amazon UK and get an invoice from them I cannot see a problem

Amazon themselves have in my opinion a good warranty policy too, sent back a nine month old Netbook and got a refund no quibbbling

:agree: I've returned something after 9mnths after it broke & they replaced it the next day (original delivery) so yep go with Amazon but NOT their market place dealers...

I've just brought a D700 from them & that came with a UK warranty slip... I personally feel that you cant go wrong with them - awesome!!
 
Amazon itself have a great returns policy. I had and used my Sony a200 for 2 weeks and then returned it under dsr after one of the CS team said it was fine to do so!
 
As long as it says "In stock. Dispatched from and sold by Amazon.co.uk" you can't go wrong - it should be a UK warranty.

If it says "Dispatched from and sold by A.N. Other", it could have come from anywhere.
 
My friend recently bought his 550D from Amazon UK when the Canon cashback offer was on. Canon sent his cheque with no problems and they did say in the small print that it had to have a UK warranty. I don't think you will have any problems.
 
I like Amazons customer service and warranty, but do make sure that the item is actually "sold by Amazon".

Amazon marketplace sellers can be very variable in their service and policies. I wouldnt buy a new camera from a marketplace seller.
 
Indeed, Amazon UK themselves are a "proper" UK based retailer so there shouldn't be any problems.

They have some very good prices too - will probably end up getting my 7D from them.
