Yes
My macbook is a uk model yet quite often when typing away I get words highlighted as though I have spelt them wrong and when I right click on them it gives me the american spelling as the correct version. I add the correct spelling to the dictionary but is there any way of setting the dictionary to UK english not the incorrect US one.

What version OS X are you running?

i take it you are talking about your browser not the actual operating system yes?

what browser are you using?

Mine does this and I'm up to date with the latest leopard release. Never been too fussed to sort it but it does bug me now and again.

I use safari and I think I am running the latest version of leopard, the problem does come up when I am online but have just had a play with the settings in dictionary and selected british english but you don't get the option to choose oxford english dictionary, just the oxford american one.
Still have the problem though, apparently I have spelt humour wrong it should be humor.

ah, i don't use safari - actually never had a problem with this, must be leopard (still on tiger here). I wasn't aware there was any options in the system preferences to use UK english, all the options are in the applications as far as i was aware.

there must be options in safari for this no?

Ha problem solved...

go to system preferences, then International, and then add British English, and ( and this is the important bit ) make sure it's at the top of the list.

You have to restart apps that are running, but now my mac can spell colour :D
