actually you can take photos of her boobs you just can't show them to anyone else.

Well yeah, you can take pictures of her boobs or anywhere else, but it's still technically illegal to do so until her 18th. And if you do and someone does get to see them then you could technically be put on the sex offenders register. Absolute madness! I know if they were man and wife it would never go that far, but the law still stands.

No, you can take indecent pics of 16-17 year olds legally. you just can keep a copy or the person show anyone. Think about a boy and girlfriend taking bed room snaps. They are not going to be arrested for that unless they published them.

Absolute tosh. Taking the image is an offence. End of.

As to whether the image is indecent it is a grey area. Some police forces would classify an image is indecent due to the erotic pose of a child wearing a bikini or the like. Others would not count it as indecent unless the child was naked. Confusing but thats entirely due to the fact that interpretation of what is indecent is left open to interpretation when it comes to what would be classed as level 1 images.

If the OP is in doubt then he should contact the high tech unit of his local police and discuss it with them. He's already posted his concerns on a national forum and with some people up in arms about the language used it wouldn't be a surprise if someone had already contacted the police with concerns.

Why on earth would I want to set myself up for that is well and truly beyond me  Many thanks for your advice. :bat:

I believe we have established there was nothing wrong with those at all but feel free ruin my life. Thanks again.

No it isn't. Read the link in my previous post.

(1)The Protection of Children Act 1978 (c. 37) (which makes provision about indecent photographs of persons under 16) is amended as follows.

(1)This section applies where, in proceedings for an offence under section 1(1)(a) of taking or making an indecent photograph of a child, or for an offence under section 1(1)(b) or (c) relating to an indecent photograph of a child, the defendant proves that the photograph was of the child aged 16 or over, and that at the time of the offence charged the child and he— .
(a)were married, or .
(b)lived together as partners in an enduring family relationship

 really ?? - you really think someone would contact the police because someone is concerned that the pictures he took without knowing a model was underage might be deemed indecent, and even though this thread has established that they were not. (or because someone else - not the OP - used the word 'bush'

come to that do you really believe the police would be bothered enough to do anything  - without sight of the offending images or knowing the identy of anyone involved you really think they'll do anything at all (other than laugh) :shake:

What he said was "No, you can take indecent pics of 16-17 year olds legally. you just can keep a copy or the person show anyone."

That is not correct and has nothing to do with people in a relationship.

As far as I was concerned there was still doubt in the OP's mind as to the legality of the images. It struck me that perhaps asking someone more qualified to answer might have been a better way forward than asking on an internet forum.

Where suspicions of illegal images of children are concerned the police do not tend to laugh.

Prior to retiring I was involved in computer forensics with 90% of my work being paedophile investigations. I had sight of a lot of original complaints that were ridiculously thin. I was merely commenting that some people would call in about anything and used the language argument as a small example.

Indeed the police would not laugh and yes the police would do something about it.

It matters not how much "supporting evidence" there is when a complaint or concern is raised about such matters, they are legally obliged to investigate all such complaints

To this I can only respond that:

1) Yes, indeed they wouldn't laugh in any case (positive or negative) so I take YOUR comments extremely seriously
2) There was nothing wrong in my case, sorry!
3) You lot made me clear my HDDs just in case (I know where stuff is and how it all works). I am very paranoid about these things
4) I have done everything in good faith, and merely checked about the law (clearly that is next to illegal in this place)
5) I have no pleasure or interest of looking or working with actually indecent images (which was not the case)
6) I hope you have enough common sense left not to waste everybody's time, tax payers money and my career.

I hope that's enough. I am really sick of this

I bet they would give me more than just advice. How about a search warrant, PC taken away, and me with a record on database (of being investigated, regardless of guilt) and failing CRB checks - all just for asking. I think someone has done that recently. They saw an indecent image on the web and phoned up, and now regret it.

I think you had better make the best of the safe shots that you do have and dump the ones that you think may be dodgy.

After all, a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

Lol, shrubbery!

so you really think if someone sent this thread to the police they'd do anything ??? - given that theres no reasonable suspicion that the OP had any intention of commiting an illegal act , or indeed that one has occured ? the thread doesnt contain the actual pictures and the real identity of the OP and indeed the minor is not known. You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but mine is that they might have better things to do with their time and limited resources.

and as to the police being legally obliged to investigate every complaint, the police dont even have the time or resources to investigate all situations in which they know a crime has occured...

And in reply to eljay while its true that the cops do take illegal images of children extremly seriously, the average paedophile case doesnt revolve arround bikini shots of a 16+ year old girl, which probably arent even illegal - there is a 'slight' difference between what the OP is talking about and paedophillia so perhaps we could wind the hysteria down a notch or two
