Hi,
I just came back from a diving trip and used for the first time my new set up with a Canon S100 and an Ikelite housing.
The camera is great but you're a bit limited when using the casing as not all the controls are accessible, particularly the wheel around the Func Set button. You can assign some functions to the ring button in the front but at some point you end up missing the ability to do something. I suspect the Canon housing may be similar given the location of the controls but I haven't checked this.
The strange thing I did notice is that the buttons on the back are quite hard but even worse, it seems that after some time some just won't work. Towards the end of the dives I found myself to change the flash settings using the right arrow button and sometimes a couple of other. This was really quite annoying and stopped me from being able to set some settings when I needed them.
One reason for going for the Ikelite rather than Canon housing was that the Ikelite doesn't need a lens adaptor which will make up the difference in cost between the two housings. However I would point out it does create a big shadow when using the flash, so if you're not planning on getting an external strobe and additional lens then it's something to have in mind.
Has anyone experienced something similar?
PS: I'll try to post some pics when I get a chance to review them!
Bets regards,
Carlos
