Unknown insect

The shot looks a bit dark to me.
I didn't say I "think" I wasn't guessing or I would have said. They're quire distinctive.
 
I did not say you were. I just googled so I could get more info. As for the darkness, I like it as an image. Turns out it is also called a Hawthorn Fly which kind of makes sense as that is what it sitting on.
