Unused household items

Yes
A friend bought a Bread making machine a little while ago, he made bread once or twice then got fed up with it all. He ended up giving it away to another friend who used it once, said they cant be a**ed with it all, and is now giving it to me. I will probably use it twice, then stick it on top of the shelf, and forget all about it. I hate household gadgets, seems fun at first but it soon becomes a pain!

I was given a fruit juicer that I used once, it was a nightmare to clean so I never used it again. I gave it to a relative who said they wanted it, they never used it but binned it. Seems they did not want the hassle of cleaning it also. I was given a food processor once and had no intention of ever using it, all those little nooks and crannies, it would take forever to clean, No Thanks !

Just looking round the house now and it is full of tat, very rare that I get given anything useful :(

I know it would be easier saying no thanks, I did say no but they are determined I give it a try. Probably just desperate to get shut of it ..

I have a hoover, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, dusters and polish and all kinda that stuff I never use. The wife does tho.

I once did a survey of the guys at work to see what equipment they bought and gave up using. The top of the list was sun bed, exercise bike and filter coffee machine. They all blamed their wives.

Before I went off carbs, we could get bread mix cheaply and the girlfriend had the timer set up to have fresh bread ready first thing in the morning. The wonderful smell was a great alarm clock.

I have an iron. But I only buy those shirts that supposedly don't need it.

That is my idea, having fresh baked bread in the morning. I will like it at first, but probably soon become just another unused gadget..

I have a bread machine which I used for 2 years on a daily basis but have since given up carbs so sitting in cupboard.
I used to buy my bread mix from Wrights which have a good selection of different types.

Since stopping using the machine I have lost over 2 stones - only 1 more to go to be in mid range BMI

A friend is dropping off a bread making machine, I will probably not end up using much. Maybe I should tell them I am trying to trim down a little :)

I make 3 or 4 loaves a week and have been doing so for about 10 years. It is one gadget I definitely replace when it wears out.
I have not given up carbs and weigh 10 stone, as I have done for 50 odd years (give or take a couple of pounds) ;)

I wonder if I will be able to keep my bread making antics going for so long. Would like to think so , but not so sure :)

If it's convenient, there's no reason not to. We had a convenient supplier of good value ready to go bread mix. Some require you to add stuff. But the all in one pack means just dump the contents on top of water and press the timer start button which is set for the next morning.

That sounds like one for me, keeping it nice and simple :)

Got a clumsy big cork screw thingy, it has two big levers and a twisty knob. Looks expensive, no idea why we got it neither of us, or are friends drinks wine. It is taking up space in the cupboard, another candidate for the bin I think :)

Do you people not have charity shops nearby?

Can't believe people throw out working, barely used items.

We had a juicer used it a couple of times, hated cleaning it, so it gathered dust and ended up at a charity shop.

Not all charity shops can or will take electrical items.

Charity shops up this end are very very fussy. I once took a bag full of very good clothes, and a box full of crockery and various other house hold items. They were not grateful at all, and seemed only interested in valuable stuff. They pick and choose what they will take, usually very good expensive named stuff. Might have just been the one I went to, maybe they were just fussy gits..

The other half calls me a useless household item.

A lot of the clothes end up going to the rag man, but they always go thoroughly through the pockets. Not unusual for '00s or even '000s to be found by volunteers!

They usually reject all electrical although BHF do seem to specialise and have shops that sell these exclusively.

Just taken delivery of the Bread maker, a friend just dropped it off. They even gave me some left over ingredients, just gotta get myself motivated to using it .

We had a clear out I had a skip full of crap in the loft:D
but all the decent stuff went to the cats protection charity shop they were very pleased to have it :)

They do make kneading motions though.

Untrue. Ours has just done it to me and Mrs Nod is not in that state (and is out!)

We had cats years ago, they were forever doing it to me, the cushions, or even the dog if he laid still long enough!

I use an old gifted Kenwood mixer for bread when we need it. Mix in the morning bake in the evening. The iron even gets used once a week when I need a shirt to go to the office. The kids shirts get ironed on the first day of a new term I think.

We do have a TV in our bedroom that has not been used for over 5 years and a DVD-recorder in the lounge that has never been used and I can't even remember where it came from.

Exercise bike that's the main one.The sunbed stops getting use due to the lamps needing to be replace otherwise they would get more use. Those fizzy drink making machines is another that gets binned in a short period of time.

Been having a tidy up the other day, and I wanted to bin a lot of things. Missus vetoed me though...

Nice of her to keep hold of you. Did the bins need putting out or something?

Love this, other than and iron, washing machine and vacuum cleaner I don't have any of these things... The main gadget not used in this house is a DVD player
