Upgrade D90 to D300s - advice

All the pros I deal with, well the good ones anyway, are always learning and always open to learn, that's how they stay fresh and keen. Why would you do something you know everything about?

Photography at any level is exciting and there is always a world to discover, often in one magical shot. :thumbs:

Any pro worth his beans knows that becoming pro doesn't mean you stop learning. If anything, the real professionals are learning more than the rest. They have to in order to stay ahead of the game and be competitive.

Howver, I feel its relavant.

I want a camera that I will be using for the next 2-5 years.

i do invest in glass and feel that a camera that I can grow into and it can take some stick with use is a benifit.

Yes glass over upgrade, everytime! you don't know the limitations of your camera until you hit the limit of your glass. I'm in tomorrow so I'l take my camera in so you can play with my lenses. You'll realise that D90 is no toy then :thumbs:

no, but seriously, thanks for the comments. Totally agree 18-270, the majority of my pictures are of my family an friends which is the main reason for me owning a camera. The D90 has really brightened up my albums, but in all honesty, trawling through usefull posts on these forums, picking things up along the way, and the inspiration from members posting their images has improved my photography far more than any upgraded body or lens ever could. AND ITS FREE!!

By my calculations that makes the cost of the D300s £1000 :thinking:

Where have you found one at that price?

I'm in the same boat. I wouldn't have been if those swines at Nikon hadn't sent me the free SB900 offer, but that makes it much more attractive!

My calculations are £1200 for D300s, less £300 value of SB900 and £450 (?) for my D90, makes £450 to change.

Head (and wallet) says no, but heart says yes. :shrug:

That's the same bloke who sent me mine, however in his first E-Mail to me he said "Dear Andrew"... I've never been known by that name that I'm aware of.

Copy+Paste is only your friend if you take care what you're doing. ;)
 
Went for the D300s and have had an email asking for my address to post out the voucher.

I will love Nikon forerver, if I get a free SB900
 
The D90 might be a better choice to stick with for a while as it is a very good camera to learn on, the D300 can be a little confusing for a newbie.
I do not know what lenses you have but the £500 could be better spent on a or some better glass?

I have all the best glass at the moment, dont worry.

I only need the:-
Nikon 70-200mm f2.8
Nikon 85 f1.4

Then I will be done.
 
wish i had your money, i'd love a new camera, but looks like it might be getting sold to pay the mortgage.
