Upgrade from a Lumix G1

Advice would be great. Thinking of looking to upgrade from my Lumix G1 for something with a bit more clout. Thinking of a Lumix G3 (to keep all of my kit) or Canon 50d or a 60d at a push price wise - what else should I be considering? I largely like to shoot portraits, street, still life (sculptures), food and landscape (but only when on hols or day out). I will tackle the lens situation after - although after a kit lens am thinking a 50mm and a zoom like 45-200mm one. Any thoughts? Sarah

What are you missing from the G1 that you want?

You may be better sticking with the G system and getting a G3 because having a full fledge DSLR like the 50D will just put you off from taking it out whereas the G series is so small and lightweight that it's not a concern

G3 is meant to be very good, probably the best upgrade to a G1 unless your looking for a smaller body (Pen / GF2/GF3)

One new feature that I like is real time histogram which makes avoiding clipping and ETTR much easier. Do conventional DSLR's have this? If not moving away from a G series camera could mean losing this great feature.
